Edward Loest Berg, 72, of Columbia, passed away unexpected Thursday, July 7.

Visitation was held on Sunday, July 10, at Memorial Funeral Home from 5 – 7 p.m. Service was held on Monday, July 11, at 10 a.m. also at the funeral home. Burial in Clear Creek Cemetery in Pilot Grove.
Edward was born on June 3, 1939, in Marshall, the son of the late A.E. and Lucille Loest Berg. He was united in marriage to Jeanette Wessing on Jan. 7, 1967, in Clear Creek, and she survives.
Ed spent his life devoted to his family. He loved sports. He was an avid Cardinal fan and a Mizzou Tiger fan.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Patrick, wife Nicky of Springfield, and Aaron Berg, fiance Abby of St. Louis; three grandchildren, Ellie Lynn Berg, Halle Vigil both of Springfield and Ryeleigh Jackson of St. Louis; two sister-in-laws, Virginia Luebbering, husband Earl of Smithton, and Dorothy Kempf, husband, Joe Lee, Boonville; two brother-in-laws, Harold Wessing and Bob Kraus, wife Mary Ann all of Pilot Grove; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Alice Kraus.
