Gene 'Rusty' Shaw, 87, of Boonville, passed away at Cooper County Memorial Hospital on Wednesday morning, July 20, 2016 following a long illness.
Funeral services for Rusty will be held at the Immanuel Lutheran Church at 11 a.m.on Saturday, July 23, 2016. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Eugene R. 'Rusty' Shaw was born Oct. 6, 1928 in Colorado Springs, Col., the son of Thomas Russell Shaw and Grace Frantz Shaw. He was reared in New Franklin, Mo., where he graduated from high school in 1946. Rusty served his country with the United States Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He married Lois Hein on June, 20, 1953 at Boonville and spent the first year of their marriage working for General Motors in Kansas City, MO. They are the parents of a daughter, Gwen, who preceded him in death in 1974. Rusty was a long time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Boonville where he served on the finance committee and a member of the Board of Elders. He spent thirty three years with the state of Missouri, both with the highway department and the state prison. He was an avid hunter-fisherman and enjoyed all sports, especially the St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs.
Besides his daughter, Gwen, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lola Pierceall. He is survived by his wife, Lois, of the home and untold numbers of friends, neighbors and in-laws.
Memorials are suggested to the Immanuel Lutheran Church.
