George Franklin Pannell Sr., 72, of Boonville passed away peacefully at Ashley Manor Care Center Thursday morning, Aug. 11.
Funeral Services for George will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 13, at St. Johns United Church of Christ of Billingsville with Rev. Dr. Christine Isham-Walsh officiating.
The family will receive friends, at the church, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., one and one half hours prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Green Cemetery near Pilot Grove, Mo.
George Franklin Pannell Sr. was born Nov. 16, 1938, in Marshall, Mo., the son of Rufus Pannell Sr. and Georgia Meyer Bryan. He married Joan Cooper on May 12, 1955, in Boonville and they are the parents of three children. George was a well-known and respected mechanic who owned his own business in Boonville for many years. Next to his family, his main interest was Harley Davidson motorcycles.
George is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Rufus Pannell Jr., and by a son-in-law, Glen Smith.
He is survived by his wife Joan of the home, two daughters, Peggy Jean Pannell Smith of Rockwall, Texas, and Jo Lynn Spurgeon and husband Marty of Warsaw, Mo., his son, George Pannell Jr. and wife, Tracy, of Boonville, as well as his sister-in-law, Carol Pannell, of Rocky Hill, Conn.. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Cristina Hoff and husband, Scott, of Forney, Texas, Joel Rhorer and his wife Tiffany, of Prairie Home, Mo., Lindsey Simmons and husband, Cole, of Wooldridge, Mo., Dalton Pannell, and Abigail Pannell, both of Boonville, Mo. He also leaves behind three great-grandchildren, Shianne Rhorer and Evan Rhorer both of Prairie Home, Mo., and Ethan Hoff of Forney, Texas.
In Lieu of flowers the family respectively request donations be given to the St. Johns United Church of Christ of Billingsville Memorial Fund, or the , Lung Cancer Research.
