George W. Meyer, 83, of Boonville, passed away at his home on Wednesday, Aug. 10.
Visitation for George will be held at Davis Funeral Chapel from 6 until 8 o'clock on Friday evening, Aug. 12. Funeral services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Boonville 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug 13. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
George William Meyer was born in Cooper County, Mo., June 21, 1928, the son of Ewing Meyer and Stella Kahle Meyer. He married Doris Rieder Aug. 28, 1954 in Baldwin, Kan. Mr. Meyer was a well known farmer in the area, who farmed with his brothers, Hillard and Don. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and was active in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Clarks Fork before moving to Boonville. In his later years, his time was spent watching T.V. and enjoying the company of Spider, the cat. His real joy in life was his granddaughter, Miranda.
Mr. Meyer was preceded in death by his wife, Doris, a brother, Hillard Meyer and by sister, Joyce Elaine Meyer. He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia K. Smith and her husband, Gregory, of Marceline, Mo., and by his only granddaughter, Miranda Jane Smith of Port Angeles, Wash. His brother, Don Meyer and wife, Sharon, of Boonville and a sister-in-law, Helen Meyer of Boonville also survive as well as his brother-in-law, Eugene Rieder and wife Dora of Ottawa, Kan. Wanda Kahle, his best friend, also survives.
Memorials are suggested to the Immanuel Lutheran pre-school and kindergarten.
