Gerald A. Oswald, 93, of Boonville passed away Friday morning Jan. 22,2016 at Cooper County Memorial Hospital.

Visitation for Gerald will be 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016 at S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors.
Gerald Alexander Oswald was born March 26, 1922 in Boonville, Mo. the son of Frank Oswald and Rose Anna (Bechtold) Oswald. Gerald graduated from S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic High School. He joined the Army Air Corps during WWII and became a pilot, proudly flying the B17 bomber. On August 19, 1950, Gerald married Dorothy Jean Pickett in Kansas City at St. Elizabeth Church. They settled in Boonville where they raised their family and built several businesses together, including a retail appliance store and many real estate developments.
Gerald was an avid outdoorsman and competitor. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and sports such as tennis, pool, ping pong and archery. He believed in conservation, and in 1993 received the Missouri Partners for Wildlife award from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for his efforts to preserve wetlands.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers and sisters, and two daughters: Mary Helen Oswald and Jean Oswald Konrady. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; sons Jerry Oswald (Cheryl), Bill Oswald (Elverie), Allan Oswald (Rene) and Christopher Oswald (Tracey); and daughter, Elizabeth Huber (Jim). He is also survived by his 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Memorials are suggested to the S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic School. Arrangements under the direction of Davis Funeral Chapel.
