Gladys LaVerne (Toellner) Lenz, 72, died Sunday, April 25, 2010 in her home in Hyannis, Nebraska.

She was born November 13, 1937 in Boonville, Missouri to Walter and Stella (King) Toellner. She was baptized and confirmed in the Zion Lutheran Church in Lone Elm, Missouri. She was a graduate of Bunceton High School.
She married Lloyd L. Lenz on May 14th, 1955 in the Zion Lutheran Church in Lone Elm, Missouri.
They made their first home on a dairy farm in Prairie Home, MO. In 1966 they moved to Milwaukee, WI while Lloyd attended the Lutheran Lay Training Institute. In 1968 their family moved to Mullen, Nebraska and then moved to Hyannis in 1971. Gladys helped Lloyd with their missionary work, which included playing the organ and leading Sunday school classes while raising their 6 children. After retiring from their 30-year ministry in Hyannis, Gladys joined Lloyd in mission work in St. Petersburg Russia in 2000-2001.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Nadine, and brother, Norbert.
She is survived by her husband, Lloyd; her children, Susan (Dwayne) Schwarz of Pinckneyville, IL, Alan (Lisa) Lenz of Grand Island, NE, Timothy (Jill) Lenz of Green Ridge, MO, Sharon (Rick) Brening of Lincoln, NE, PeterJohn (Mitzi) Lenz, of Lincoln, NE, and Daniel (Nora) Lenz of Eagle, NE ;16 grandchildren, Eric Schwarz, Nathan Schwarz, Rebecca Reichrath,, Zachary Lenz, Jonathan Lenz, Amanda Lenz, Kristin Lenz, Matthew Lenz, Natalie Brening, Shae Brening, Erin Lenz, Tyler Lenz, Toni Willnerd, Lane Hinn, Whitney Hinn, and Uriah Lenz; 5 great grandchildren, Kaleb Schwarz, Karlye Schwarz, Brodie Willnerd, Chase Willnerd, and Aalyiegh Hinn; and her sister, Evelyn (Paul) Rademann of Bunceton, MO.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Swede Valley Lutheran Church south of Ashby. Reverend Andy Safarik and Reverend Robert Pierce will officiate.
Graveside services will be held Friday, April 30, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Lone Elm, Missouri.
Memorials may be given to Swede Valley Lutheran Church for the construction of their new sanctuary.
