Dr. Glenn W. Kahle, 79, of Boonville, Missouri died after a short illness October 19th, 2014 in Columbia, Missouri.
Glenn worked on the family farm and graduated from Bunceton High School. He earned his Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Missouri. As a member of ROTC he joined the United States Air Force and graduated from pilot training school. Flying would be a lifelong passion as he owned and flew many different aircraft. He had memberships in A.O.P.A and Quiet Birdmen.
After his service in the Air Force, he went to work for John Deere and over the years he received his Masters and Ph.D. from The University of Illinois in Mechanical Engineering. He held many corporate positions, some of which were Manager of J.D. Advanced Harvesting Systems, V.P. of World Wide Engineering, Case I.H., V.P. Engineering of Genesis at Ford/New Holland, V.P of Engineering at Joy Technologies and V.P. of Engineering at ATI. He earned many awards and accolades and was a member of many organizations. He held over 20 United States patents relating to farm equipment.
In retirement he continued to be active and worked as a consultant for various engineering clients. During this time he was an active farmer with his 2 sons Leslie and Kevin. They farmed land that has been in the family for many generations.
Glenn and his wife, Maurine, traveled extensively through their 60 years of marriage visiting most of the continents of the world. He also enjoyed his grandchildren, going to their activities and having fun on his farms.
Glenn is survived by his 3 sons, Norman and wife Renee Kahle of East Moline, IL, Leslie Kahle and Kevin Kahle both of Boonville, MO., his grandchildren Kaitlyn, Evan and Nathan Kahle of East Moline, IL. He is also survived by his brother Wayne and wife Rose Kahle of Ft. Myers, FL.
Preceding Glenn in death were his parents William and Florence Kahle, Brother William (infant) and his wife Maurine.
Visitation will be held Monday October 27th, 2014 from 6:00-8:00pm at Davis Funeral Chapel, Boonville, MO. Services will be held Tuesday October 28th, 2014 at 11:00am at Clarks Fork Trinity Lutheran Church, Boonville, MO. Lunch will follow. Memorial may be made to Clarks Fork Trinity Lutheran Church 20209 Ellis Davis Road, Boonville, MO 65233. Condolences for the family may be left at www.davisfuneral chapelboonville.com
