Harold L. Moyer, 72, of Bettendorf, Iowa, died unexpectedly October 7, 2011 at his home. Memorial graveside services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, October 14th at the National Cemetery, Rock Island, Illinois, where military honors will be presented by American Legion Post #26, Davenport. For those planning to attend, please gather at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport at 9:30 AM Friday for procession onto the Island.

Mr. Moyer was born in 1939 in Fayette, Missouri to Richard and Etta Moyer. He earned his BA in Sociology in 1962 from Central Methodist College, Fayette, MO and his MBA in 1976 from Boston (MA) University. He was a member of the Academy of Certified Social Workers, a national organization that recognizes the level of competence of the member. During the Vietnam era, he served with the U.S. Army for nine years active duty. Upon his move to Bettendorf in 2004, he worked for the Rock Island Arsenal as Program Manager for the U.S. Army and strategic planning and alignment to funding organizations and government agencies. He managed programs for the Army world-wide and indirectly supervised the activities of over-specialists. He also was the professional program manager in Family Programs and Drug and Alcohol Prevention for over 20 years. Being a very generous person, he devoted much of his career to helping soldiers and their families, and received several civilian awards for 36 years of outstanding performance and service to soldiers and families in the family support area. He was a worldwide traveler, especially enjoying Asia, and practicing yoga.
Harold is survived by his daughter, Nina Moyer of Germany.
