Helen Laverne (Hilderbrand) Finn, 70, of Howard County passed away on March 22, 2014 at her Fayette home surrounded by family.
Laverne was born in Boonville, Missouri to Ernest Noland and Anna Ruth (Wells) Hilderbrand on October 13th, 1943. She attended a rural grade school in Petersburg and graduated from Glasgow High School in 1962. She was joined in marriage to Bobby Edward Finn of Lisbon on March 10th, 1962. She attended Faith Family Church in Fayette for over 30 years.
Laverne was a Christian woman of integrity and prayer who remained faithful to God throughout her lifetime. Laverne leaves behind a rich spiritual legacy of lasting influence on her family, her greatest joy and treasure. In her life, as well as in her death, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren honor "Mammy" as a woman of God who "opened her mouth with wisdom, and on her tongue was the law of kindness." They "rise up and call her blessed" (Proverbs 31:26, 28).
Laverne was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Edward Finn; father, Ernest Noland Hilderbrand; mother, Anna Ruth (Wells) Hilderbrand; brothers, Donald Lee, Franklin (Fuzzy) Gene, and Jerry Noland Hilderbrand; and sister, Joyce Dean McGary.
Laverne is survived by daughter, Paula (Mike) Neal of Fayette; son, Bobby Finn of Fayette; daughter, Vernia Finn of Holts Summit; sisters-in-law, Frances Hilderbrand and Linda Hilderbrand of Fayette; brother-in-law, Mike McGary of Glasgow; six grandchildren: Shaun, Chris, Miranda, Kyle, Kassandra and Karrisa; and seven great-grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 26th, 2014, from 6pm to 8pm at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Fayette.
Funeral services will be held at Boonsboro Christian Church on Thursday, March 27th, 2014, at 2 pm with Roger McMurray officiating. Burial will follow at Boonsboro Cemetery.
Memorials may be donated to the Boonsboro Cemetery Association in care of Denise Waller at 4142 Hwy 87 Franklin, MO 65250.
