Henry J. Twenter, 93, passed away April 3, 2013, at Katy Manor in Pilot Grove.
Born November 10, 1919, Henry was the second oldest son of Daniel and Mary Twenter. He was a World War II veteran, spent time farming and raising dairy cows, and in 1960 went to work for the United States Government as a rural letter carrier. Hecarried mail in the Pilot Grove area until his retirement in 1990.
On May 22, 1944, Henry married Rosaline Gerke. She preceded him in death on March 17, 1960. On November 27, 1976, he married Virginia Rutzwho preceded him in death on July 29, 1996.
He is survived by six children Jeanette (Doug) Wiig of Urbandale, Iowa; Margie (Steve) Andersen of Columbia; Dave (Pam) Twenter of Pilot Grove; Carol (Lee) Heim of Columbia; Marvin (Sharon) Twenter of Columbia; and Frank (Kathleen) Twenter of Martinsburg; two step-daughters Linda Rutz and Paulette (Kevin) Lock of Jefferson City, and a step-son Doug (Shirley) Rutz of Cuba, Missouri. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren; a brother, Ralph Twenter, of Pilot Grove; and a sister, Mary Helen Knedgen,of Pilot Grove. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Leonard Twenter and Wilbert (Bee) Twenter.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 5, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pilot Grove, with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
