Irvin E. 'Gene' Hazel, 81, of Boonville, passed away at Lakeview Care Center on Monday, July 11, 2011.
Visitation for Mr. Hazel will be held at Davis Funeral Chapel on Thursday evening, July 14, from 6 until 8 o'clock. Funeral services will be held at Davis Chapel at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 15, with Rev. Randy Richards officiating. Burial will follow at a later date.
Irvin Eugene Hazel was born in Boonville, Mo., Oct. 28, 1929, the son of Forrest E. Hazel and Leona Jefferies Hazel. He married Margaret Pummill on June 2, 1956, in Pettis County and they are the parents of seven children.
He served for two years in Korea with the United States Army. Gene worked for the MKT Railroad for many years until his retirement in 1986. He looked forward to mushroom season each year and he enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Mr. Hazel was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Margaret, in 1995, by two sons, Bryan, in 1966 and Tim, in 1994 and by his daughter, Patricia Ann, in 1963 as well as two brothers, Leroy and Forrest Jr.
He is survived by his sons, Clifford and wife Wilma of Sedalia, Richard and wife Melinda, Chris and wife Angela of Boonville and Kenneth and wife Emily, of Clark, Mo. His brother 'Butch' and twin sisters, Juanita and Anita also survive. He will also be missed by twelve grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
