John Boswell Garrett, 96, of Boonville, Mo., passed away on Feb. 13 at Cooper County Memorial Hospital.

Funeral Service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 19 at the First Christian Church with Pastor Dan Crum officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until service time. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
John was one of twelve children, born June 27, 1914, in Lupus, Mo., to William Jackson and Annie Lee Cheatham Garrett who preceded him in death. He attended Bethel School and Jamestown High School. He married Frances Bruce on August 17, 1937, in California, Missouri and they were married 67 years until her death on Nov. 18, 2004. They loved to go to MU basketball games.
J.B. retired from the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad, but also worked for J.C. Penney and was a meat cutter. He was a member of the Oddfellow Lodge, the Scottish Rite of Columbia, Mo. Ararat Shrine, and was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge. He was also a faithful member of the First Christian Church of Boonville.
Survivors include a brother, Thomas Garrett of Rockville, Indiana and a sister, Marian Woodruff of Kansas City, Missouri
He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Ralph, George, Wallace and Oliver Garrett; and five sisters, Ruth Bieri, Eunice Lebing, Annie Stephens, Phoebe Siefert, and Edna "Dolly" Garrett.
