John Owen, 90, of New Franklin, died Tuesday June 21, at the Ravenwood Terrace in Moberly, Missouri.

Services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 25, at Markland-Yager Funeral Home in New Franklin with Pastor Jim Walker officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Clarks Chapel Cemetery in Franklin. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. Owen was born May 16, 1921, in Mokane, Missouri, to Lorenzo Dow Own and Inez West Owen. He moved with his family to Franklin, Missouri, in the 1920s.
He attended elementary school in Franklin and graduated from New Franklin High School in 1939.
John married Allie Elizabeth Amick in 1942 and they resided in the New Franklin area where he spent most of his life as a bulldozer operator. Mr. Owen served in the U.S. Army. He became a Tech/Sgt. in the Cannon Company 148th Infantry Regiment-37th Infantry Divisions. He served in World War II in the South Pacific.
Surviving family members include his son, John D. Owen and daughter-in-law, Fran of Des Moines, Iowa; a daughter, Donna Owen Wetrich and son-in-law, Phil of Moberly, Missouri; five grandchildren, Troy Wetrich, Chad Wetrich and fiancé, Tracy, Pamela Owen Weiss and husband, Dave, Julie Owen Lyle and husband, Lou, Douglas Owen and wife, Angie; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Allie; brothers, Earl Eugene Owen and Lee Owen and two sisters, Irene Harris and Pauline Brewster.
