John William Dodson, 75 of Boonville passed away Tuesday, February 14 at Harry S. Truman Veterans Hospital in Columbia.
Visitation for John will be Friday evening February 17 from 6 to 8 PM at Davis Funeral Chapel. Funeral Services will be 11:30 AM on Saturday, February 18 at Davis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Randy Fischer officiating. Burial will follow in the Walnut Grove Cemetery with full Military Honors.
John was born July 7, 1936 in Fayette, MO. the son of John William "Bill" Dodson and Oleda Smith Dodson. He married Joyce Perkins February 25, 1961 in Boonville, MO. John was in the Air Force from 1954 to 1959. He was airman first class and then in the reserves until 1962. He worked many years at Hall & Riley Paving and the Kansas City Star. He loved sports especially the St. Louis Cardinals and enjoyed coaching.
John was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Terry Dodson, David Dodson; three sisters, Betty Ambrose, Maybelle Vollrath and Margaret Marie Dodson; one nephew, Jamie Dodson and one niece, Deanna Bard. He is survived by his wife Joyce of the home, two children, Steve (Monique) Dodson and Denise (Brian) Twenter of Pilot Grove, one daughter-in-law, Audrey Dodson of Pleasant Hill, MO., a brother, Frank Dodson of Boonville, MO.; four sisters, Elizabeth Reece, Beverly Brown, Patricia Cain and Louise Cain. A sister-in-law, Shirley Harmon and Brother-in-law, Glenn Perkins. Also surviving are seven grandchildren; Morgan Dodson, Kody Dodson, Michael Dodson, Grant Dodson, Celine Dodson, Jacob Twenter, Laben Twenter and 11 nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Harry S. Truman Veterans Hospital.
