Judith May (Wehmeyer) Smith 71, passed away Jan. 13 at her home in Yuma, Ariz., after a lengthy illness.

Judy was born on Jan. 22, 1939, in New Franklin, Mo., the daughter of Lloyd and Olga C. Wehmeyer.
She graduated from New Franklin High School in 1957. Judy was married to Paul Allen Mitzel in 1958 who proceeded her in death. She was united in marriage Jan. 12, 1985, to Ronald D. Smith.
She was a homemaker and worked many years for GMAC and the City of Yuba City, California. Judy loved to travel and had many friends across the western states as well as central Missouri. She also had a passion for preserving garden vegetables, making pickles, jams and jellies, drying herbs and fruits and cooking.
Along with her husband Ron, Judy is survived by three sons: Paul A. Mitzel, Jr. and Roger E. Mitzel of Oroville, Calif., John Thomas Mitzel of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, three grandchildren and brothers Leon Wehmeyer (wife Dorothy) of Bella Vista Arkansas and William (Bill) Wehmeyer (wife Betty Ann) of Holts Summit, Mo.
