Kenneth Otto Kunze, of Franklin, Missouri, passed away April 18, 2015 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia. He was 88 years old.
Kenneth Kunze was born August 13, 1926 in Franklin, Missouri a son of Edwin Casper and Bertha Dickman Kunze. He graduated from 8th grade at Clarks Chapel School and from New Franklin High School. He served his nation in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Kunze was a life-long farmer and had also worked as an ASCS Field Inspector and as a rural mail carrier. He was a board member of the Howard County Consolidated Water District #1 for many years.
Especially important to Kenneth was his membership, since childhood, of Immanuel United Church of Christ in New Franklin. He was a long-time member of the church council. Many friends and church members respectfully nicknamed him "Reverend" for his dedication to his church and its members. He is also lovingly remembered for his unique mannerisms, especially a favorite phrase "By Golly."
Kenneth is survived by six nephews, Dale (Charlotte) Kunze, Bryan (Connie) Kunze, David (Sandy) Kunze, Jim (Jennifer) Friedrich, Larry (Nicole) Friedrich and Mark (Carla)?Friedrich; a niece, Janice Hoos; a brother-in-law, George Friedrich and by numerous great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William Kunze and Marion Kunze and by two sisters, Doris Friedrich and Gladys Kunze.
Services honoring Kenneth's life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at Immanuel United Church of Christ in New Franklin with Rev. Tim Fairley officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in New Franklin.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Markland-Yager Funeral Home in New Franklin.
