Leona F. Howard, 85, of Marshall, formerly of Chariton and Howard County, passed away at The Living Center in Marshall on Sunday, Feb. 13.

Leona's wish was to be cremated with no services at this time. Arrangements under the directions of Davis Funeral Chapel in Boonville, Mo.
Leona Fern Howard was born in Sedalia, Mo., Oct. 27, 1925, the daughter of William E. O'Dell and Mattie Ellen Whitlock O'Dell. She married Vernon Howard in 1943 in Olathe, Kansas and they are the parents of five children. They had raised their family in the Chariton and Howard County area and later in life they moved to Marshall. Mrs. Howard dedicated her life to her family and helping others. She enjoyed cooking, and worked in that capacity at Keller Hospital in Fayette and Colonial Manor in Glasgow for many years. She collected owls and bears over the years and spent spare time embroidering.
Leona is preceded in death by two daughters, Linda Howard and Sandra Williams. She survived by her husband Vernon, of the home, her children; Lorna Jo Howard and Ona Beadle of Hannibal, Mo., Vernon Dallas Howard Jr. and wife Florence, of New Franklin, Mo and Nancy Woods and husband Jim, of Osceola, Iowa. As well as six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Her sisters, Betty Ball of Kansas City and Beulah Tindall of Sunrise Beach, Mo., as well as numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
