Leonard C. Vollmer, 90, of Boonville passed away at Lakeview Health Care and Rehabilitation Center on Wednesday, September 8, 2010. Visitation will be Sunday, September 12, 2010 from 4:00-7:00 pm with a Prayer Service at 7:00 pm at Thacher Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 am, Monday, September 13, 2010 at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Bob Duesdieker officiating. Burial will follow in the SS Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery.
Leonard was born on July 13, 1920, in Pilot Grove, Mo. the son of Joseph and Elizabeth Brummel Vollmer, both of whom preceded him in death. He graduated from Pilot Grove High School in 1937. On December 27, 1943, in Pilot Grove married to Virginia Elizabeth Rental Vollmer, who preceded him in death on March 3, 1995. Leonard worked in the retail/wholesale lumber business for forty years starting with C.J. Harris Lumber Company for twenty-five years working as Manager, then United Lumber and retired after working with Benson Lumber. After his retirement, he worked as a handyman helping people. He was a member of the SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus #1061.
Leonard was also preceded in death by two brothers Joseph and John Vollmer and one grandson Charles Vance Vollmer.
Mr. Vollmer is survived by three sons: Charles Dale Vollmer of St. Charles, Mo., Donald J. Vollmer with Susan Miller of Arnold, Mo. and Lawrence Vollmer of St. Charles, Mo.; one granddaughter Bridgette Siebert, with husband Jeff, of Cincinnati, Oh.; three great grandchildren Jeffery, Rebecca and Ashley Siebert all of Cincinnati, Oh.
