Lester 'Delane' Green, 75, of Moberly, MO, formerly from Blackwater, passed away at Boone Hospital Center on, Friday, Feb. 21, 2014 after a long battle with cancer.
Visitation for Delane will be held at Davis Funeral Chapel in Boonville on Tuesday, Feb. 25th, 2014 from 11:00 until 1:00 o'clock with the funeral service at 1:00 o'clock at the funeral home with Rev. Dennis Gard, pastor of North Park Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at the Old Lamine Cemetery, close to his father.
Lester Delane Green was born at home in Lamine, MO July 10, 1938, the son of William Lester Green and Edna Mae Calvert Green, the third of fourteen children. He married Earlene Leathers at the First Baptist Church in Boonville, MO May 25, 1958 and they are the parents of three children. Delane had worked in the Blackwater area for several years until he became a rural mail carrier in the Moberly area until his retirement in 2000. His favorite past time was fishing and the outdoors, as well as bowling and restoring antique cars. His family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the most valuable part of his life.
Delane is survived by his mother, Edna, who still lives at her home; his wife Earlene of the home; his children, Lisa (husband Dan) Kuder of Bunceton, Lori (husband Wayne) Coffman of Overland Park, KS and his son, Mitchell Delane (wife Lorri) Green of Lenox, IA. He is also survived by all of his siblings; Frank Green of Boonville Ginny Mayes of Greenville, KY, Mary Lou Henry, Columbia, Winfred Green of Marion KY, Carleen Babani of Omaha, NE, Pat Morris of Council Bluffs, IA, David, Joe, Steve and John Green and Susan Fenton, Barbara Thurman and Colleen Hayes, all of Blackwater. His mother in law, Delores Leathers of Boonville also survive. He will be missed very much by his nine grand children; Randy Lee Bishop, Amy Lynn Heilman, Adam, Jacob and Matt Coffman and Emily, Madalyne,Will and Joshua Green and great-grandchildren; Kylie, Taylyn and Laney Heilman and Kyren Bishop as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
