Mabel A. (Rothgeb) Long, 105, formerly of Marshall, died April 4, 2014, at Katy Manor Nursing Home, in Pilot Grove.

Visitation will be held at Meisenheimer Funeral in Pilot Grove at 10 am on April 9, followed by the funeral at 11 am. Burial will be at the New Lebanon Cemetery.
Mrs. Long was born October 30, 1907, to Richard and Jessie Sites Rothgeb in New Lebanon, Missouri. She attended school and church in New Lebanon and graduated from Otterville High School in 1926. She had further studies at University of Missouri - Rolla (School of Mines). On June 7, 1931, she married William D. Long, of Pilot Grove, Missouri. They had one daughter, Helen. They resided in Missouri and Illinois, with Mrs. Long working as a statistician at Illinois Power. She was an avid gardener, cook and reader. She was a member of both the Cooper County Historical Society and the New Lebanon Preservation Society, to which memorials are suggested.
Mrs. Long is survived by her son-in-law, Merle Griener; her granddaughter and her husband, Jeanne and Randy Haraldson; her great-grandson, Daniel Snoddy; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Mabel was preceded in death by her siblings Alice, Alline, Wilbur, Thomas, Opal, Orville, and Eldon; her daughter, Helen Griener; her grandson, Richard Griener; and her grandson-in-law, Robert Snoddy of Miami.
