Margaret Helen Rothgeb Brownfield, 98, of New Lebanon, passed away Friday, January 25, 2013 at Katy Manor Care Center in Pilot Grove.

She was born May 19, 1914, in Montgomery County, MO, the daughter of Clinton and Elsie Bryant Brower. On April 3, 1937, she married Wilbur (Web) Rothgeb and lived in Pilot Grove. They were divorced and he passed away October 30, 1988. She made her home with her daughter, Jeanette, in New Lebanon before moving to Katy Manor in 2009. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading, fishing and helping her daughter with her historic preservation projects.
She was a member of the New Lebanon Preservation Society and the Cooper County Historical Society.
Survivors include one daughter-Jeanette Rothgeb Heaton of New Lebanon, one son-Richard D. Rothgeb of St. Louis, one sister-Bertha Tate of New Florence, MO; one sister-in-law Lorraine Brower of Montgomery City, MO; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers-Emmett and Robert Brower and one sister-Juanita Asbury.
Funeral services for Ms. Brownfield will be at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at the Meisenheimer Funeral Home in Pilot Grove. Burial will be in the New Lebanon Cemetery.
Visitation and the family will receive friends from 9:30 AM until time of service Wednesday.
Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the New Lebanon Preservation Society and the Cooper County Historical Society.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the New Lebanon Preservation Society.
