Margaret Louise Monk, 89, of Boonville, passed away Monday, February 6, 2012 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.
She was born May 4, 1922 in St. Louis to Walter and Julia Gauzey Burns. She was married August 5, 1945 in Oklahoma City to Wilfred Jerry Monk, who survives of the home. She graduated with a degree in Business Administration from Oklahoma University. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority, served as a 4-H leader for many years, and as President of the Cooper County Fair Board for many years. She loved to read, sew, solve Sudoku puzzles, spend time with her children and grandchildren, play hearts and work with her plants. Survivors include her husband, three daughters-Nancy (Steve) McReynolds of Omaha, NE; Julie (Don) Binning of Sedalia; Sarah (Steve) Friedrich of Boonville; two sons-Robert Monk of Lowell, AR; George (Lisa) Monk of Boonville; sixteengrandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two children-Barbara Clare and Walter Monk and one grandson-Jeffery Binning. Funeral services for Mrs. Monk will be 10:30 AM, Friday, February 10, 2012 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pilot Grove with Father Phil Kane officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Thursday, February 9 at the church with a prayer service at 5:30 PM. The body will be cremated. Arrangements by Meisenheimer Funeral home in Pilot Grove. Memorials are suggested to the Breast Cancer Society.
