Margaret (Marge) Pauline Jesse
Marge died in Lansing, Kansas on 25 June 2012. She was born 24 August 1912 on the family farm just south of Boonville, Missouri to Anton and Katharine Schler. After attending business school in Boonville, she moved to Chicago, Illinois where graduated from a beauty school. Later she was a co-owner of a beauty salon in Evanston, Illinois. She married Dan B. Jesse III on 11 September 1950. They moved to Yonkers, New York where she worked at the Westchester branch of the Lord and Taylors Department Store chain after her husband finished his call back for service during the Korean War. After their retirement in 1987 the couple moved to Leavenworth, Kansas where her beloved husband past away in January, 2002. They attended Main Post Chapel at Fort Leavenworth for as long as they were physically able. She enjoyed the Protestant Women of the Chapel Bible Study. Her hobbies were needlepoint, quilting, and showing her love through baking cookies for family and friends. She was devoted to her family and expressed her love through greeting cards, letters, and phone calls.
Margaret was the second of eleven children. Her survivors include her daughter, Paula Darling and son-in-law, Douglas Darling of Leavenworth, Kansas; her three grandsons: John Darling of Lawrence, Kansas, Dan Darling of Tampa Bay, Florida, and Mark Darling of Denver, Colorado; and John's wife, Melissa, and son, Sean. Two of her brothers also survive: Revered George Schler of Claremont, California and Dr. Daniel Schler PhD of Durango, Colorado as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday June 28th, 2012 at 10:00am at Davis Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 11:00am, Thursday June 28th, at Davis Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth, KS. Burial will be held in Billingsville, Missouri at the St. John's Cemetery, Thursday June 28th, 2012. Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to the Meals on Wheels program through the Leavenworth Council on Aging. Arrangements entrusted to Davis Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth, Kansas.
