Boonville resident Melanie Kay Spencer, 60, died June 20th, 2010 at Boone Hospital Center.
Melanie was born June 23, 1949 in Boonville to Joseph F. and Linda Wurfbaum Holem. She graduated from New Franklin High School in 1967 and attended Stephen's College for several years. Melanie worked at the University of Missouri Law and Journalism Libraries. She married Thomas Spencer December 29, 1973. Melanie or Miss Melanie as the story hour children called her, worked at the Boonslick Regional Library in Boonville for 30 years. She attended Four Square Church and was a member of Boonville Historical Society and Friends of the Library.
Besides her parents and husband Mrs. Spencer is survived by her son, Shawn Spencer, her brother, Larry Holem and a sister, Jolene Dority and a number of nieces, nephew and friends. She was preceded in death by one sister, Diane Hazlett.
There will be a memorial service at a later date.
