Melvin Doyle Cooper, 90, of Kansas City, passed away at St. Luke's Hospice Care in Kansas City on Wednesday, June 11, 2014.
Melvin was born in Kansas City, MO Feb. 29, 1924, the son of Paul and Kathryn Cooper. Mr. Cooper was a decorated veteran of WW II serving with the U.S. Army Air Corp, 306th Bombardment Group (H) B-17 "First Over Germany". He married Delka Schafersman in 1955. He was an accountant for Folger's Coffee and later Procter and Gamble until his retirement in 1987. He, with his wife, enjoyed traveling abroad as well as in the U.S.
Mr. Cooper was preceded in death by a brother, Paul. He is survived by his wife, Delka, his daughter, Carol Hansen (George) of Leawood, KS, and son, Charles (Cynthia) Cooper of Cape Coral, FL. His grandchildren; Kristin Maxwell and Melissa Black, both of Fairway, KS, Erin Kobler of Kansas City and Carrie Tyner of Olathe, KS as well as three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services for Mr. Cooper will be held at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Boonville, MO at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, June 13, 2014, with full Military Honors. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the .
