Peggy Joyce Hampson Engle, 77, of Boonville, died Sunday, July 11, 2010. Visitation will be at William Wood Funeral Chapel on Friday at 10:00 to 11:00 am with a Celebration of Life following at 11:00 am, with Steve Schonberg officiating. Interment will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Boonville.
On August 19, 1932, Peggy was born the daughter of John "Jack" and Crystal Todd Hampson both of whom preceded her in death. She graduated from Westran High School in Huntsville and then attended St. Luke's School of Nursing in Kansas City and graduated as Registered Nurse in 1955. She was married on January 17, 1953 in Harrison, Arkansas to Kenneth Eugene Engle, who preceded her in death on June 14, 1998.
She started her nursing career in Boonville with the Medical Group, and then worked at St. Joseph Hospital and after thirty years she retired from the Cooper County Memorial Hospital as Night Supervisor. Peggy was a member of the Nelson Memorial United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: one son, William E. Engle, with his wife Lisa, of Boonville; two daughters, Elizabeth A. Felten, with her husband Ronald, of Pilot Grove and Deborah J. Schonberg, with her husband Steve, of Essex Junction, Vermont; 9 grandchildren, Lindsey, LeighAnna and Will Engle, Andrew, Ethan, Rebecca and Grant Felten, Sam and Grace Schonberg; and several nieces and nephews.
Peggy was also preceded in death by one sister, Mary Edna McCune.
