Raymond Harry Wood Jr., 71, of Franklin, Mo., passed away at Boone Hospital Center Sunday, April 03, following a long battle with cancer.

There will be a celebration of Raymond's life at Davis Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, April 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. A private graveside service for the family will be at a later date.
Raymond Harry Wood was born in Columbia, Mo., Feb. 5, 1940, the son of Raymond Harry Wood Sr. and Iva lee Yeager. Ray graduated from Hickman High School in Columbia and the University of Missouri's School of Agriculture. He married Susan Gault in 1968, in La Plata, Mo., and she preceded him in death in October of 2009 and they are the parents of four children. He was in the active Army Reserves out of college and was honorably discharged in 1968. He was a highly respected, trusted and successful farmer his entire adult life in Cooper, Howard and Boone Counties. Raymond loved animals and always had his dog with him. His grandchildren, whom he loved unconditionally, are the recipients of numerous John Deere toys and they know first hand of what a grandpa should be.
Besides his wife, Susan, he was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his children; Stephen L. Wood and wife, Dana of Franklin, Matthew Wood of Boonville, Sarah Cutter of Boonville, and Elizabeth Bernasek and her husband, Ryan of Valley Falls, KS. His grandchildren, Jasper Cutter, Olivia Wood, Thomas Wood and Lucas Bernasek, as well as a sister, Doris Wood DeFelice of Columbia also survive.
