Tom Wilborn, age 81, of rural New Franklin, passed away at the University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics on October 29, 2014.
Raymond Thomas "Tom" Wilborn was born in Howard County, Missouri on October 30, 1932 to M.C. and Frankie Irene Ward Wilborn. On December 14, 1957 he married Leevon Coy in New Franklin at the Methodist Church parsonage.
Mr. Wilborn served his nation in the United States Army with honor during the Korean Conflict. During his time of service he received the United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation.
Prior to retirement, Tom was self-employed as a real estate broker and electrician operating Wilborn Real Estate and Wilborn Electric in New Franklin. He had also been employed with Smith Electric in Boonville and Boone Realty in Columbia and Boonville. Tom was a member of the New Franklin United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 0052 in Boonville, VFW Post 280 in Columbia, the Missouri Realtors Association and the Korean Veterans Association.
Survivors include his wife, Leevon Wilborn; daughter, Vonda Martin and husband, Jim all of New Franklin and three sisters, Cleo Venable and Catherine Harvey of Moberly and Patricia Ballew of Columbia. He was especially proud of his grandchildren, Gage Thomas and Elaina Grace Henderson.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bob and Richard Wilborn and by two sisters, Virginia Huffman and Judy Little.
Services honoring his life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 2, 2014 at Markland-Yager Funeral Home in New Franklin with Pastor Carroll Schoenhals officiating. Visitation will be Saturday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Interment with military honors will be at Clarks Chapel in Franklin, Missouri.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Clarks Chapel Cemetery Association in care of Markland-Yager Funeral Home, P.O. Box 126, New Franklin, MO 65274.
