Robert L. Snoddy, 83, of Franklin, passed away at Boone Hospital Center on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2015 surrounded by family.
Visitation for Mr. Snoddy will be held at Davis Funeral Chapel on Friday evening, Jan. 23, 2015 from 5:00 until 8:00 o'clock. Funeral services will be held at the New Franklin United Church of Christ at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, Jan. 24, with Rev. Tim Fairley officiating. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery with full military honors.
Robert Lee Snoddy was born Dec. 30, 1931 in Howard County, the son of Freddie Atway Snoddy and LaDella Cramer Snoddy. He graduated from New Franklin High School in 1949 and from Central Methodist in Fayette in 1953. He served his country with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Bob married Anna Katherine Wehmeyer in 1954 and she preceded him in death 1988. They are the parents of four children. He then married Betty Wolken Goodin Nov. 24,1990. Bob was a fixture in Howard County from the time he was a child with his involvement with Snoddy's store as the hard working son of Freddie and as owner since his dad's death. He was very civic minded and contributed generously to many causes. He was an avid reader and able to converse on any subject. He was on the board of Boatmen's Bank and active in many other organizations including Grand Marshal of Masonic Lodge of Howard County. Besides his family his passion was working. He knew no stranger and enjoyed visiting with everyone at the store.
Robert is survived by his wife Betty, his sons; Chris Lee (Brenda) of Boonville, Fred Wayne (Sherry) of Colorado Springs, CO, James Miller (Sherry) and Robert D. (Stacy) of Boonville and his step-children, Scott (Michelle) Goodin of Parkville, MO and Suzanne Platt (Sean) of Overland Park, KS His grandchildren; Anna Kudlacz (Daniel), Kayla Snoddy, Josh Snoddy (Leigh), Breck Walters (Gabe), Kyle Snoddy (Brittany) Teal Snoddy, Christa Snoddy, Landon Snoddy. Great-grandchildren; Ethan Kudlacz and Beckett Snoddy and his step-grandchildren, Grace, Charlie, William and Caroline Platt.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be directed to the American
or Home Town Health Care.
