Roger W. Farmer, 89, of Boonville, passed away, peacefully at his home on Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012.

Visitation for Mr. Farmer will be held at Davis Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, Oct. 23rd from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. with a Masonic Service at 6:00 o'clock. Friends may call from noon until time of the visitation. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, Oct. 25th, at Nelson Memorial United Methodist Church, in Boonville, with Rev. Nick Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Roger Wallace Farmer was born in Kellerton, IA, Aug. 5, 1923, the son of Wallace W. Farmer and Ella 'Edith' Cornick Farmer. Roger attended Iowa Wesleyan College where he studied music for three years. Roger served his country with the Untied States Army during WW II, serving in the Pacific Theater where he was awarded the Bronze Star. He married Viviene Louise Hoff Aug. 10th, 1947 in Kellerton and they are the parents of four children. The family moved to Boonville from Kansas City in 1962 when they bought Hopper Stanfield's Grocery (Boonville United Super), later moving the business to the Temple Stevens building on Main Street and in 1992, to the Boonville I.G.A. Roger was a member of the Nelson Memorial United Methodist Church, the Cooper Lodge # 36, the American Legion and the V.F.W.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Viviene, in 2010, by a daughter-in-law, Donna Jo Farmer as well as one grandchild, Emily Ann Farmer and a great-granddaughter, Hillary Grace Farmer. Roger was also preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Baker and brothers, Clyde, Howard, and Guy Farmer. He is survived by his children, David Farmer (Melanie) of Lewisville, TX, Greg Farmer (Connie) of Boonville, Jamie Kennedy (Tim) and Richard Farmer of Boonville as well as seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorials are suggested to Shriner's Children's Hospital or to that of donor's choice.
