Sandra Lou Lawler, born Kienert, of Boonville, Mo., lost her battle with cancer on Jan. 18.
Sandy was born on Nov. 28, 1948, in Oshkosh, Wis. She graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1966 and met her husband, Dana, in Oshkosh. Sandy had a great life and had the opportunity to live in many different places while her husband served in the U.S. Army. Among them were Oklahoma, Florida, Kansas, Louisiana, Germany and Hawaii. They settled in Boonville, Mo., after Dana's retirement from the armed forces and recent retirement from the Boonville Correctional Center. Sandy recently retired from Walmart and made friends everywhere she lived. People were drawn by her beautiful spirit and wicked sense of humor. She always saw the best in everyone and seemed to bring out the best in others. She was an amazing woman who will be greatly missed.
Sandy is survived by her husband of 43 years, Dana G. Lawler, her son, Brian (Jennifer) Lawler of Elden, Mo., and daughter, Brenda (Patrick) O'Grady of Kingston, Mo., and one grandson, Brian Jenkins, Jr.; her mother, Mona Kienert of Oshkosh; her father, Darwin (Sandy) Kienert of Oshkosh; her sisters, Merry (Bruce) Meunier of Houston, Texas; Cindy Houle of Oshkosh, Becky Hamp of Brighton, Colo., and brothers, Dan Kienert of Gwinn, Mich. Sandy is preceded in death by her sister Holly (James) Brown of Oshkosh, Wis. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. until noon on Tuesday, Jan. 25, followed by a memorial service at noon. at Poklasny Funeral Home. Sandy's family asks that flowers or donations be sent to Poklasny Funeral Home, 865 South West Haven Drive, Oshkosh, WI 54904.
