Susan E. Bridgewater, of Boonville, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at Riverdell Care Center with her loving family at her side.
Visitation and a celebration of Susan's life will take place at Davis Funeral Chapel on Sunday afternoon, June 26 from 2-4 p.m. Burial will follow at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
Susan Elizabeth Bridgewater was born in Fremont Neb., May 15th, 1941, the daughter of the late Herbert R. and Ruth A. Yost of Joplin, Mo. She and her husband of almost fifty-two years, Gary Bridgewater, were married Nov. 27, 1964 in Joplin, Mo. She was a member of the First Methodist Church in Pawnee City, Neb. and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She attended the University of Missouri and received a Bachelor's of Science degree in Elementary Education and was a teacher throughout the early part of her life. As a military spouse, she traveled extensively with her husband to a number of military posts, both in Europe and around the United States. She was a dedicated homemaker and anchor for the family, providing stability and a loving environment regardless of the location and duration of the assignment. She was an active volunteer, providing support to military members and their families as a member of a number of volunteer organizations. She also worked for a number of companies to include Long and Foster Real Estate and was Human Resource manager and Administrative Assistant to the President of Logis-Tech, Inc, Manassas, Va. She enjoyed a number of hobbies and traveled extensively with her husband after retirement.
Along with her husband, Gary, she is survived by two daughters; Jennifer Lee and her husband, Joal Batal of Washington, D.C. and Allison Kay and her husband Paul Lombardi of Chantilly, Va., and a brother, Vaughn Yost of Huntsville, Alabama, as well as four grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to the Salvation Army.
