Sylvia Turley Price Lasley, 92, of Columbia passed away on Dec. 25 at University Hospital and Clinics.

Services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 29 at Blackwater Church of Christ in Blackwater. Burial will follow in Old Lamine Cemetery near Blackwater.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 28, at Fairview Road Church of Christ in Columbia.
Sylvia was born May 4, 1918, in Blackwater to John and Emma Moseley Turley and they preceded her in death. She married Woodrow W. Price in 1936 and he preceded her in death in 1975. She then married John Lasley in 1991 and he preceded her in death in 1994.
Sylvia was a 1935 graduate of Blackwater High School and attended Harding College in Searcy, Arkansas. During World War II, while Woody was in the Navy, Sylvia moved to Kansas City and worked at Pratt-Whitney, inspecting airplane parts. After living in Kansas City for twenty years, she moved back to Blackwater where she was a substitute teacher at Nelson High School and then became a bookkeeper for Blackwater Schools until she retired in 1979.
She was a member of Fairview Road Church of Christ and she had volunteered at Boone Hospital Center for 10 years and she quilted at the Senior Center for 11 years. Sylvia also enjoyed cooking, baking, reading books, playing cards, having friends over for dinner, Bible study groups, walking and riding her exercise bicycle on which she logged over 6,000 miles.
Survivors include sons, Kirk M. (Donna) Price of Blue Springs, Mo., and Michael W. (Tammy) Price of Blackwater; grandchildren, Justin Price, Bradley Price, Kevin Price, Shelby Price, Michael Price, Sylvia Ann Price and Melissa Chevalier; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Curtis "Kris" Evans and Kathryn "Dale" Burns; brothers, J.D. Turley, Bill Turley, Pearson Turley and Moseley Turley.
