Thelma Genevieve (Hughes) Bywater, 85, died on May 1, 2012 at Katy Manor Nursing Home in Pilot Grove, MO.

Thelma was born in Sparta, MO on March 4, 1927, the daughter of Charles Alvin and Rosie Belle (Roberts) Hughes. She was one of 14 children, having eight bothers and five sisters. She graduated from Tarkio High School in 1945. On June 8, 1947, she married Eugene "Duggie" Bywater in Tarkio, MO, who preceded her in death in June 1984. Prior to moving to Boonville in 1998, Mrs. Bywater had lived in Warrensburg, MO. She worked as a sales clerk at Hirlinger's Office Supply, Julie's clothing store and Ric Mar Decorating. She loved to read, quilt, and cook for her family.
Mrs. Bywater is preceded in death by her parents and husband, her son, Ricky Bywater; three grandsons and a great-granddaughter. She is survived by her daughters, Jammey Brandes and her husband Bob of Boonville; Nancy Phillips and her husband Bob of Winona, MN; and a daughter-in-law Jayne Kiser of Sierra Vista, AZ. She is also survived by four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister Villa Boydston of Nixa, MO and a brother, Lonnie (Jr) Hughes of Stuart, Iowa; and 24 nieces and 25 nephews.
