Velma R. Johnson Hein, 83, of Macon, MO., formerly of Boonville was lifted up into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at home, surrounded by her family.
Funeral services for Velma will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Boonville at 11:30 A.M. on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013 with Rev. John Roach officiating. Family will receive friends from 10:00 until time of service. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Velma Ruth Hein was born in Saline County, June 6th, 1930, the daughter of of William Johnson and Mary Willis Johnson. She married Wilbur E. Hein on March 7, 1947 in Boonville, MO. They lived and farmed in both Howard and Cooper Counties. She had worked at University Medical Center and at Ashley Manor Care center for many years.
Velma was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur, in 2011, daughter Nancy Kay Townlain in 1996 and her grandson, Jon David Townlain in 1999. Brothers, Eugene and William Johnson, her sister, Grace Winona Brayman Schoby, all of Marshall, as well as one half brother and three half sisters also preceded her in death. She is survived by one daughter, Ruth Ann Graves (Marvin) of Macon, her sons, Tom Hein (Stephine) of Boonville, Mel Hein (Meg) of Palmer, Alaska, Ed Hein of New Franklin, MO. and her daughter-in-law, Ona Hein of Kansas City, MO. Her twin sister, Vivian Piles and sisters, Dorothy Lynch, both of Kansas City, Kansas and Ruby Hazell of Marshall, MO also survive as well as nine grandchildren; Christi Hein of Arizona, Kenneth Hein (Kate) of Illinois, Joe Kim (Jennifer) of St. Louis, Brian Marcum of Macon, Ross Townlain (Becca) of Boonville, Andrew and Caleb Hein of Boonville, Tara Horton (Paul) of Texas and Clay Hein (Niki) of Auburn, Washington.
