V. 'Leroy' Brown, 71, of Boonville passed away at his home on Friday, August 1, 2014, following a long and courageous bout with cancer.

Funeral services for Leroy will be held at Davis Funeral Chapel in Boonville at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, August 5th, 2014 and visitation will be for two hours prior to the service. Burial will follow the service in the West Boonville Evangelical Church Cemetery.
Vernard 'Leroy' Brown was born in Wyatt, MO July 1, 1943, the son of Sam Oscar Brown and Burdia Jane Kerley Brown. He married Linda Kay Gilpin in 1963 in Columbia, MO and they are the parents of three children. The family moved to Boonville from Michigan in 1988 where Leroy had worked as a self employed contracter and more recently worked for the Cooper County Road and Bridge until his retirement in 2010. Leroy was a devoted family man, being one of eleven children. He enjoyed hunting and fishing or anything outdoors. He enjoyed Bluegrass and Gospel music and was a participant of the Living Lord's Supper production at Thespian Hall for several years. He was an ordained minister and a member of the River of Life Assembly of God Church.
Leroy was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Brown and by two brothers, Tom and his wife, Joan Brown and James Brown. He is survived by his wife, Linda, of the home, his daughters; Dawn (Kevin) Lammers of Boonville and Christina (Tim) Sherwood of Grasslake, Michigan. Also surviving are his loving grandchildren; Timothy Alan and Tyler Sherwood of Michigan and Garrett, Jessica and Lindsey Lammers of Boonville as well as two great grandchildren, Blake and Brody Sherwood. His siblings; Carolyn (Aldan) Adams of Hallsville, Bobby Brown of Boonville, William (Judy) Brown of Hallsville, Janie Ginter of Boonville, Darlene (Danny) Cuppy of Bevier, MO, Martha Sue (Jim) Crews of Midway, Denny (Sue) Brown of College Mound and Wayne (Carol) Brown of Hallsville and his sister-in-law, Flora Mae Brown of Columbia also survive.
