Willard Lee Holtzclaw was born in Kansas City, MO, Feb. 20, 1936 , the son of Willard F. Holtzclaw and Rebecca Irene Kilgore Holtzclaw. The family moved to the Boonville area early in Lee's life in order to start a boat and motor business. Lee joined the U.S. Army in 1953, and proudly severed in the Missouri Army National for forty two years and retired as Command Sergeant Major in 1996. He married Mary Lancaster Jan. 1, 1955 in Boonville and she preceded him in death in 2005. Mr. Holtzclaw operated Holtzclaw Boat and Motor until his retirement in 1997. Down time was not a part of Lee's makeup; therefore he went to work for the local livestock sales barn for a period of time and more recently, worked for Widel Inc. until his death. His family would always be a main topic of conversation along with telling stories of his life as well as a joke now and then. Lee also farmed and enjoyed checking on his cattle in the company of his faithful dog, Buddy. He was a member of the MO Register Angus Association for many years and a Member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1022 here in Boonville.

Besides his parents and his wife, Mary, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Rebecca Beryl. He is survived by his daughter, LeAnn Shackelford and her husband, Roger, of Boonville, his grandsons, Edwin L. Wilson II and wife Kim and Sean L. Wilson, of Boonville and Jeremy J. Jones and wife Jennifer of Lawrence, KS, as well as his great-grandchildren; Britni, Hunter, Alexis and Korabella Wilson of Boonville and Lauryn and Brooks Jones of Lawrence, KS. His brother, John (Barb) Holtzclaw of Boonville also survive.
