Jacob Edward Walther, 93, passed away on Monday morning, Dec. 23, 2013 at Cooper County Memorial Hospital in the presence of his loving family.

Visitation for Mr. Walther will be held at Davis Funeral Chapel from 4:00 until 7:00 o'clock on Thursday evening, Dec. 26, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 o'clock on Friday afternoon, Dec. 27th at Davis Chapel with Rev. Larry Jones and Rev. Ryan Lyons officiating. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Jacob E. Walther was born April 29th, 1920, the son of C H E Walther and Mary Ellen Cook Walther at the farmhouse in Cooper County that he lived in until the day he died. He married Leola Frances King, Jan. 26, 1947 in the Clark's Fork Lutheran Church. She preceded him in death on July 16, 2011. He was also preceded in death by his parents and one son, William Walther in 1976.
Mr. Walther was a life time member of the West Boonville Evangelical Church where he was baptized in 1920 and confirmed in 1935, and was the superintendent of the Church Sunday School Program for over seventy years. He carried on the family legacy as an integral part of Missouri Seed Improvement Association for over seventy years. He was the membership chairman for Cooper County Farm Bureau and was president of the Farm Bureau for several years. Mr. Walther served as a board member of the West Boonville Community Club for several years. Mr. Walther was a highly successful farmer who for years exhibited seed grain, and produce at the American Royal and the Missouri State Fair. He passed onto his children the work ethic it takes to follow in his footsteps.
He is survived by his children; Ernie Walther (Sharon), Carl Walther (Joan), Joyce (Steve) Gilson, all of Boonville, Rosemary (Larry) Wilmsmeyer of Franklin, MO and Darlene (Earl) Reuter of Versailles, MO. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Gene Walther, Kirk Wilmsmeyer, Jason Walther, Kent Wilmsmeyer, David Wiseman, Steven Miltenberger, Peter Wolff, Makai Shaw, Justin Freesmeier, Tony Watring, and Steve Lucas.
Memorials are suggested to West Boonville Evangelical Church or Cemetery Fund.
