1965 - 2016

Joe Montaña Jr., 50 of Dumas, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2016. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at Grace Thru Faith Church with Pastor Jori Buchenau, officiating. Interment will follow in Northlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 3, 2016 from 5 o'clock until 7 o'clock in the evening at Morrison Memorial Chapel. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.
Joe was born on November 3, 1965 to Joe and Anita (Limon) Montaña in San Marcos, TX. He had been a resident of Dumas since 1974 and graduated from Dumas High School in 1984. In 1992, he was united in marriage to Dina Saenz in Dumas. Joe had been employed at Conoco Phillips for 30 years where he was a manual writer.

Joe was an avid fan of the Miami Hurricanes, loved Star Trek and The Walking Dead and was an avid collector of weapons and guns. Most of all he was a family man; he especially loved spending time with his children and grandson. Joe was a member of Grace Thru Faith and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his brothers: Peter and Steven Montaña.

Joe is survived by his wife Dina of the home; daughter: Christina Montaña of Dumas; sons: Joe Montaña III of Omaha, NE, Kirk Montaña and Erik Montaña both of Dumas; stepson: Ryan Scroggins of Dumas; parents: Joe, Sr. and Anita Montaña of Dumas; grandson: Julius Scroggins of Canyon; and numerous nephews and nieces.
