1937 - 2016

BOWES, Joan (Brais) Age 79, of Amesbury, died peacefully at the Carlyle House Nursing Home in Framingham early Tuesday morning, June 28, 2016. She was predeceased by her husband of thirty years, John "Jack" Bowes. Born in Quincy, June 6, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Laura (Reed) Brais and was a graduate of Archbishop Williams High School in Braintree, then went on to graduate from Saint Elizabeth's Hospital School of Nursing in Brighton. For many years Joan had worked at Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport as well as at Pentucket Early Intervention. She is survived by a son, Michael Bowes and wife Andrea of Worcester; a daughter, Kelly Weiderman and husband Garth of Templeton; four grandchildren, Colin Bowes, Caitlyn Bowes, Maya Weiderman and Alison Weiderman, along with several cousins and dear friends. Visiting hours at the Highland Chapel of Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, AMESBURY, MA 01913, will be held Friday, July 1, 2016 from 4 to 8 P.M. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, July 2, 2016 at 11 A.M. at St. Joseph Church of the Holy Family Parish, 2 School Street, Amesbury, folowed by burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. Donations in her memory can be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
