So sorry to learn of the passing of Laura Howie, a long-time advocate of equal rights for women, fan of women's history, and a loyal apostle of Clara Barton's inspiring life story. During the years we served together at the Clara Barton Birthplace Museum, she was known to tell unsuspecting phone marketers all about the founder of the American Red Cross. And, Laura knew Absolutely Everything about Clara Barton. Her staunch belief in Universalism told Laura that, like Clara, she was "born free." Rest in peace, Laura.

Ms. Howie was a very patient teacher. I remember her well while taking sewing lessons at Auburn High. No matter what the situation, she helped everyone. Rest in peace Ms. Howie!
