Cronan, Elizabeth (Lisa) Fletcher
Passed away peacefully on October 16th, 2013. She is survived by her beloved husband, Todd, and her children, Jessie, Nina, Louisa and Quinn. She is also survived by a warm and loving extended family and circle of friends. Lisa grew up in Locust Valley, New York, and attended Milton Academy and Princeton University. She moved to Boston shortly after graduating and has lived in Winchester for over 25 years. Lisa was a talented architect, who loved poetry and travel. In her quiet and principled way, Lisa changed the lives of hundreds of children around the world. As a foster parent, she opened her home to 16 infants over the course of 15 years. She also helped to found an orphanage in Tanzania, which provides a loving home and a bright future for children in need. Most of all, she constantly inspired her own children, and everyone who knew her, with her sense of adventure, her compassion, and her strength. A service will be held at the Parish of the Epiphany, in Winchester, MA, on Saturday October 19th at 4 pm, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tanzanian Children's Fund, 2 Atlantic Ave 4th Floor, Boston, MA 02110, or at tanzanianchildrensfund.org.

Lisa was an extraordinary human being. Those of us who grew up with her on Long Island should not have been surprised by the exceptionally kind and loving person she became as an adult. She will be missed by many, and remembered by all who had the privilege to know her.

I am an old school friend of Lisa's from Green Vale. I am so saddened by this news. While I didn't see much a Lisa after we graduated, I often thought so fondly of her. Grade school can be a mean place but lisa was always quick with a smile and a friendly manner. She was a beautiful, gentle person. My condolences to the entire Fletcher Family. Sincerely, Hilary Huntington

I was Lisa's first room mate at Milton. Room mates really do get to know each other--especially the first term away from home, which is a hard one!--and I can attest that she was never less than lovely even then. I am awed to discover what she turned her life into, and saddened that we lost touch over the years. My heart goes out to her family, who must miss her terribly.--Rose Kernochan in NYC

We remember Lisa fondly from our daughter Emily's days at BB & N with Louisa- a home full of fun and heart and great pancakes. Lisa mothered so many, including us, living far away, adjusting to a new school. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Cronans. Bless you all, Susan,Stow and Emily Walker

Todd and family, So very sorry to hear this sad news about Lisa. It is not that we crossed paths that often, but whenever we did land at the Pond together it was always good times for us all. Lisa a shining light with her children flowing at her side, such a wonderful mother and person, someone I always wished to know more....my nieces had such fun with your kids....good, good times. I send love and hugs for each and all of you from me and my sister Allie and her girls, Grace and Belle, so, so sad. What a huge loss to you her dear family and to the whole planet. Love, Ellie Bemis

The world is a much better place for Lisa having been in it. She has left a profound impact on all of us who have had the joy and pleasure to call her "friend". Her grace, compassion and courage inspired and blessed us all. We love her, and will miss her welcoming smile, her soft, sweet laugh and her enthusiasm for her many interests and loves, especially her family. I haven't see Lisa in years since Princeton but remember her beautiful countenance and warmth perfectly. I picture fluffy blondish curls, twinkling bright eyes, and a "wicked-good" (to use her regional expression) smile! I even remember her birthday August 19 each year (about a week after mine) and still will....So sorry to hear of this -- condolences to her family and close friends.

Lisa was a great friend and a beutiful soul. In our Senior Year at Milton, she lived with myself and Nick Witte at Tom & Charlotte Cleveland's house (Tom was the school chaplain and football coach). We had so much fun and enjoyment with an incredible class of revelers all around us. She was the most pleasant and fun loving person. As I said to friends, I remember her at her wedding to Tom (which Tom Cleveland officiated) and she was literally the most stunning bride I have ever seen. Love was truly in the air that day. We have lost a truly great soul and friend.

I was profoundly affected by Lisa. The first time I met her she was a neighbor and close friend of a very special friend of mine, I was so struck by her natural beauty! And then over the years I was in awe of her. All her charitable work and she never "wore it on her sleeve". I think I admired that the most. I always wanted to be Lisa. Not because of what she had but because of what she gave. What an incredible example she set. My heart breaks for her precious family and friends. An enormous loss. Jane Tavares
