MACHICADO, Maria J. 86, of Ashland, born in Sucre Bolivia, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, February 26, 2014. Maria was the beloved wife of 59 years to the late Hernan Machicado. Maria is survived by her daughter Beatriz and husband Richard of Ashland, son Hernan and wife Kathy of Houston TX and daughter Rosario and husband Wayne of Marlborough. Maria was blessed with ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She will be missed by her large family in both the United Stated and Bolivia, including her sister AnnaMaria and husband Patricio of Marlborough and many nieces and nephews. Maria's life was one of faith and charity. Along with her husband, they were the National Coordinators for the Spanish Marriage Encounter. For many years she gave Cursillos, was a Eucharistic Minister for both St. Mary's Parish in Waltham and St. Steven's Parish in Framingham, where she was also a lector. Maria was dutifully involved with the Spanish community at the Holy Cross Cathedral in Boston. Maria's selfless nature and vibrant personality along with her songs filled our hearts and lives with love and joy. We do not mourn her death but celebrate her life. She will be forever missed by the countless lives she touched. Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 28th from 4-7PM at the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main Street in Ashland. A Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, March 1st at 9AM in St. Cecilia's Church, 54 Esty Street, Ashland. In lieu of flowers, donations in Maria's memory can be made to Boston Catholic Charities, 51 Sleeper Street, Boston MA. www.mataresefuneral.com
