ARTHUR FRANCIS CROTTY

Crotty, Arthur Francis
A long time resident of Charlestown, passed away peacefully on Feb 23rd at the age of 78. Arthur was the devoted husband of Margaret (Docherty) Crotty for 54 years. He was the father of Arthur Crotty and wife Joan of North Reading; David Crotty and wife Donna of Texas; Ken Crotty and wife Mary of Winchester; Ellen Crotty and husband Edward Pistorino of Charlestown and the late Stephen Crotty and William (Billy) Crotty of Charlestown. Beloved brother of Ellen Quinn of Canton, Ann Joyce of Milton and the late Sister Mary David. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren who loved him dearly and always enjoyed listening to his stories. Arthur was born and raised in Charlestown, residing there for 66 years before retiring in Texas. He was an active union member of the International Longshoreman's Association (ILA) for whom he worked for 44 years. He was one of the original founders of the Townie Santa charity that delivered much needed items and food to the elderly and shut-ins at Christmas. He was a great son, brother, husband, dad and person - he will be missed dearly by his family and friends. A special Mass will be held for family and friends on Saturday, March 9th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Charlestown. Burial services will be privately held at a future date. Donations in Arthur's memory can be made to the Charlestown Boys and Girls Club.
