Goldberg, Barnett (Bernard)
Age 90, of Revere, formerly of Winthrop, on Tuesday, February 26, 2013. For 67 years, the beloved husband of the late Marion Goldberg. Loving Father of Robert Goldberg of Danvers, Allen Goldberg and his wife Michele of Holliston, and Steven Goldberg of Newton. Cherished grandfather for Seth, Alyssa, Janna, Anat, and Meital. Beloved brother of Adele Levine (Goldberg) and her husband Seymour Levine of Quincy, and the late Nathan Goldberg, of Phoenix. After Pearl Harbor, he enlisted in the Navy where he served aboard the John Land, Maritime Commission ship, as a Pharmacist's Mate until November 1945. He met his wife during the war, married, and bought a house in Winthrop where they lived for over 50 years until moving to the Jack Satter House in Revere. He graduated Winthrop High School, and earned Masters Degrees from Northeastern and Suffolk Universities. He was very active in the Jack Satter House Tenants Association, where he lived for 10 years and volunteered in countless activities. Barnett worked for over 20 years at the Boston Naval Shipyard in various capacities, amongst them teaching. This is where he developed his passion for teaching which he continued at the American Business Institute and Revere Public Schools. Barnett was extremely active in many causes including the local temple, civil organizations, and many needy charities along with being a poet, singer, and jokester, entertaining both family and friends with lyrics for any and all occasions and events. Memorial Services will be held at Temple Israel, 145 Hartford St. Natick, MA, on Thursday at 1 pm. Observance will continue at the home of Allen and Michele, 53 Dalton Road, Holliston from 7- 9pm on Thursday, from 1-4 pm on Friday, from 7-9pm on Saturday, and 1-4 PM and 7-9 PM on Sunday.
