I first met Bruce while working at Shaw and we instantly became friends. Before long I began to affectionately refer to Bruce as ‘Bustoff'. For several years he was my golf partner and we often played basketball together (I can still hear him shout ‘how are you going to stop that' every time he made a basket). I don't believe we ever had a conversation that didn't involve many laughs. I find it hard to believe he is no longer with us. My deepest and most heartfelt sympathy go to Jackie, Chloe, Spencer and the entire Burton family. Bruce will be truly missed.

I worked with Bruce during his entire tenure at Stone & Webster/Shaw. He was a man who always had a story (never short) and knew every city/town road and highway in Massachusetts and New England. Wonderful sense of humor and was critical to our email support at work. We will miss him dearly. When a public memorial has been arranged please let me know. There are many of us who would be interested in attending. Thanks ([email protected])

I met Bruce only once, and only several weeks ago. I've been hoping to see him again. He made ours an instant friendship. Brief as it was and although we all may feel somewhat cheated in the end, the memories are where our wealth in knowing him lie.
Very best regards to those that knew Bruce so well. B~

Once again, a family member was taken from us too soon. When I think of Bruce, I can't help but smile. I recall the happy times -- walking through the woods and swimming in the lake, Christmases at Nana's house, family cook-outs and gatherings, parties at the house in Haverhill. He had the power to make anyone laugh, in any situation, and always took a humorous look at things. He always had a smile on his face.
Auntie Ev, Uncle Stan, Craig, Kathy, John and Bob: No words can express the sadness I feel in my heart. I know only too well what you're going through right now. Bruce's passing will not only leave a void in our lives, but in the hearts of everyone who knew him.
I hope you can find peace in the memories of the wonderful life he has lived.
My love, thoughts and prayers go out to all of you.

My Dearest Mr. and Mrs. Burton and family, I thank you from the deepest part of my heart, for such a wonderful friend.
Moose. You will always be a pillar of strength, positive direction, and comedy in my life. I know you so well. On this day, if I was to focus on loss and sadness, I would let you down. On this day, if I focus and reflect on your fortitude, respect, family love, humor, care, honesty, and hope -- than I am living with what you stand for. Even during this time, you generate strength and love in all of us. Myself, Patches, Coonce, Doug and You were a team. I love you, and I will continue to apply all you have taught me in our 52 year friendship. Memories never fade.

My heart breaks for Aunt Evie & Uncle Stan and all the kids. I feel your pain. Bruce always had such a big heart and touched so many lives. He would always make me laugh when the cousins saw each other. Mom, Dad, and Steve have taught me that one is never truly gone who lives in the hearts and minds of those they leave behind. I love and miss you all.
