CATHERINE E. SPAGNOLO

SPAGNOLO, Catherine E. "Kitty" 87, of Cranston, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on her birthday September 17, 2013 at the Home and Hospice Center of RI surrounded by her children, grandchildren, brother, sister-in-laws, cousins and her five week old great granddaughter Penelope. As the foundation of our Italian clan, Kitty led a simple life dedicated to her husband and family, Catholic faith and cooking. In 1943, during World War II, she began a wondrous love story when she met her Army Air Force husband John while she was employed at a market on Weybosset Street in Downtown Providence. Kitty and John began a journey that spanned 63 years. Their marriage included special memories from Old Forge, Baltimore, Lake George, Lido Beach, Goddard Park and numerous family affairs and celebrations. Mom is now reunited with her best friend, lover and husband John in eternal life together. Kitty was born in Providence to Pasquale and Guilia (Iacavone) Balasco. Kitty aka Gaetana Evelina aka Catherine is survived by her brother Alfred Balasco of Providence; her sister-in-laws Mary Ann Balasco and Tina Shardlow of Scituate; her daughter Kathleen Accetta of Johnston; her sons Anthony and his wife Kathy of Seekonk, MA, Al and his wife Mary of Lynnfield, MA and John, Jr. and his wife Rose of Cranston; grandchildren Brian, Stephen, Aaron, Adam, Juliana, Jennifer, Alyssa, Jonathan and Maria Spagnolo; Gregory and Stephanie Accetta; great-grandchildren Jordan, Christian, Emma, Nicholas, Alexis, Joseph and Penelope. Visitation Sunday, September 22, 2013 from 4-7pm in the Tucker-Quinn Funeral Chapel, 643 Putnam Ave. (Rt.44) Greenville, RI. Her funeral will be held Monday, September 23, 2013 at 8:30am from the Tucker-Quinn Funeral Chapel, 643 Putnam Avenue (Rt.44), Greenville, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Ave, Greenville. Reverend George K. Nixon will be the celebrant. Interment will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery in Exeter.
