CELE FERNER HAHN(1942 - 2014)

HAHN, Cele Ferner March 21, 1942 - April 11, 2014 State Representative Cele Ferner Hahn passed away April 11, 2014, at Amerimed Hospital in Puerto Vallarta, MX, after a series of health issues. Cele lived in Mexico with Curt, her husband of 48 years. She leaves two children, Thea (Cathy) of Concord (MA) and Christopher of Arlington (MA), five grandchildren and her brother, Gene Ferner of Kansas City (KN). Born on March 21, 1942, in Sioux City, IA, Cele graduated in 1964 with a journalism degree from the University of Iowa where she was editor of the Daily Iowan. She subsequently worked for the Miami Herald, the Huntington (WV) Advertiser, The Sioux City (IA) Journal and the Albany (NY) Times-Knickerbocker News. She maintained a blog at www.celehahn.org until her death. Cele entered politics in 1994, serving as the State Representative from Westfield for four terms. She sat on the Insurance and the House Ways and Means Committees, and was named Legislator of the Year for Mental Health and Immigration in Services in 1999 and Conservationist of the Year by the Hampden Conservation District in 2000.
