Beloved husband of Susan (Beamer), loving father of Katherine Borninski of Canton, MI, Emily Cnudde of Cambridge, MA, father-in-law of Thomas Borninski and loving grandfather of Edward, Rowan, and Nicholas Borninski. Born in 1938 in Macomb County, MI, Chuck graduated from the University of Michigan
and earned a PhD in Political Science from the University of North Carolina. He had a distinguished teaching and research career at the University of California at Irvine, the University of Wisconsin, Michigan State University

, Florida State University, and U Mass Boston. He was Dean of the College of Social Sciences at Florida State for 12 years and served as Provost at UMB from 1999-2001, retiring as Professor Emeritus in 2011. The author of many books and articles, Chuck provided technical assistance to universities in England, Yugoslavia, Croatia, the Dominican Republic, and the United Arab Emirates, where he helped establish Abu Dhabi University. Active in neighborhood and Democratic causes in Cambridge, Chuck loved cooking spicy food for friends and family, discussing politics, traveling, and listening to the waves at Rockport, MA. His heroes included Adlai Stevenson and Woody Allen.
