EDWARD J. DEVLIN(1916 - 2013)

DEVLIN, Edward J. 97, of Marstons Mills. In the early morning hours of October 29th, Edward J. Devlin left this world to take his place beside his wife, Anne, the love of his life. Born Dec. 14, 1916 in Waltham, MA, he graduated from St. Charles High School, class of 1935. A gifted athlete, known as The Legend and The Hustling Second Sacker, Ed played semi pro football and baseball, coached and officiated football. Although he never liked to discuss WWII, over the years bits and pieces were revealed, The Normandy Invasion and The Battle of the Bulge. Ed was the humble recipient of both the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He leaves behind his grieving family. Daughter Anne Moreshead of Centerville, granddaughter Catie Item and her husband Erik of West Barnstable, grandson John Moreshead and his wife Karen of Hyannis Port, great grandchildren Anna, Ava and Jenna Item, The Platinums, and Cole and Reese Moreshead, the twins. In addition to his immediate family, he leaves his blessed caregiver, Janet Nidositka, whose loving care made it possible for Ed to remain at home the last year of his life. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Wianno Ave., Osterville on Thursday Oct. 31 at 11 am.
